Healthy eating is often confused with low-calorie eating, which is a very wrong thought since calories are nothing more than an indicator of the energy contained in food.

Calories are basically the energy value of each food. They are the essential energy in some vital functions of the body, they are essential for the maintenance of life and their lack in the body can cause some serious health problems such as malnutrition, fatigue, lack of concentration, vitamin deficiency, among others.
Amount of calories to eat!
As we've already seen, calories are essential for the body's functioning and must be ingested...but what we must be careful about is their quality! It should be analyzed if they have a good amount of vitamins, minerals, fiber and good fats.
Foods that have the “best quality” calories are the most natural, do not undergo a major processing process, and do not receive as many chemical additives.
-Women, on average, need to ingest about 2,000 calories a day, while men need 2,500. They can be distributed throughout meals and be divided like this:
For breakfast: 400 kcal
At lunch and dinner: 600 kcal each.
In snacks and meals made "out of time" the remaining calories can be consumed...always opting for quality calories!!

A 30 gram serving of dried fruit has about 174kcal, a very similar amount to 2 chocolate chip cookies!! What's the difference? Dried fruits have quality calories, while cookies don't!
It may seem unimportant, but trying to reduce the consumption of ultra-processed foods is a brilliant step towards a better quality of life, as the risks to health will decrease considerably.
